Are you sure you have the correct amount of sugar in it..if it is too strong, it will attract bees. Make sure you have a solution of 4 parts water to 1 part sugar. They also sell bee guards to be added to feeders.

Yes, there are professional beekeepers. Most of them hire out services for pollination of crops, including orchards, and are migratory (follow the blossom season from one location to another). You'll need a lot of money to get started with equipment such as fork lifts, hives, trucks, extraction and packing equipment, starter packages, and labor help. In the first year or two, you will be simply building your "herd" and getting contracts, so don't expect to make much money (i.e., more expenses without offsetting income).

With the problems bees are having now with Colony Collapse and parasites, it'd suggest you think twice about it. Hire on with one of these companies and see how you like it.

are you talking about the hive and box or just the comb after bee's make it?cause you can buy the box's already made.don't beleive a bee keeper will sell the honeycomb as long as they have bees the will use theres.

Hi,
I am interested in getting into bee keeping as i have recently got an allotment i am allowed to keep them on. I have heard about top bar hives which are supposed to be easier and cheaper than the normal design. Are they any good and would you advise them. Also can anyone suggest places where i could buy equipment at an affordable price and any sources of Information on the subject.

Check if there is a local bee keepers association where your allotment is. You should be able to find out through your local authority website. They will be able to give you all the information and help you need (if you are prepared to join).
