How do you start keeping bees, and how do you coax the ones in your roof to move into the new bee-hives?

I am the General Manager of a unique, eco-friendly resort, located about 38 kilometers from the heart of Bangalore, in the rural community of Hoskote. We are striving to be a self-sustaining property (at least, in part). I took over the property about 3 weeks ago. We have orchards here, and we used to keep bees. I would like to re-start that, and would like to coax the bees that have hived in our structural beams and near our A/C-ducts back into the bee-keeping structures. Please help!

You need to find someone who has handled bees before to persuade them to transfer, as the hive will follow the queen if she is moved. Normally the beekeeper will make them drowsy with smoke, then pick up the queen and transfer her along with the majority of the swarm clustered around her into the new hive - the rest will follow shortly as they discover the move has happened.

Honey extractor plans required for beekeeping?

Plans if you have built one your self or are into beekeeping, I am not after just random searcing on the net!!! I can do that myself.

My extractor is one of the few things that I have bought. I paid about £220 last year and it was worth every penny. It is a manual model which takes four frames. It came from Maisemore apiaries http://www.bees-online.co.uk/
I have six colonies so thats nearly 200 frames. Thats a lot of work for a piece of home-made equipment. You can often find a fellow bee-keeper to share the costs of a new one..
