Beekeeping
Beekeeping has been going on for a long time with there being over 20,000
Species of wild Bees.
More and more people are now getting involved with Bees with the need for natural products such as honey becoming more and more popular.
Honey in the old days was collected by smoking out the wild Bee hive then smashing the hive and removing the honey, things changed in the 19th century when the perfection of the movable comb hives was thought of.
Wooden frames were developed and such things as how much gap was needed for Bee space was required for optimum honey production.
To get into Beekeeping it is very important that you have the correct equipment such as protective clothing, although it is just as important to know your Bees.
Beekeepers normally wear gloves, a hooded suit and of course a veil, but you will find that expierienced beekeepers tend yo not wear gloves but this obviously comes down to how much knowledge you have of Bees, Novice keepers should always wear the full protective outfit.
There are generally three type of Beekeepers:
Someone who does it as a hobby
Someone who does it to subsidise there normal income
And of course theres the commercial Beekeeper who does it full time for a living.
If your thinking of taking it up as a new hobby then i advise you to get proffesional advice and read up on the subject before you take the plunge
